L.3 Migration from the Standby Scenario to a Virtual Machine

This section describes how to migrate an existing Swyx Master/Standby installation to a virtual machine in order to ensure high availability using the appropriate features of the virtualization platform.

After this migration, Swyx availability will no longer be achieved by switching from a master system to a standby system, but rather by restarting the VM (vSphere HA) or seamlessly switching to a mirrored VM (vSphere FT).

The migration can be carried out in the following steps:

1 Convert Swyx Master to a standalone system

2 Create a backup of the Swyx database

3 Reinstall Swyx on a virtual machine and restore the backup
