A gateway connected directly to SwyxServer via SIP, can be used in a variety of scenarios. In applications of this type, the purpose is usually to connect a small to medium-sized branch office. An example scenario is described below.

Under normal circumstances, communication between the branch office and the main office takes place via a VPN over a DSL/ADSL IP broadband connection, with the branch office’s communication devices granted full access to the Swyx functions at the main office.

A wide selection of terminals can be used in the branch office. These include analog phone and fax devices, digital phones, SwyxPhone, computer clients, and SIP phones. This makes use of all of Swyx's features.

SwyxIt! Classic as a computer client and SwyxPhone can be integrated seamlessly into the branch office environment alongside existing analog, ISDN and SIP phones. This allows all employees to take advantage of Swyx without having to abandon their existing infrastructure.
