4.23 Set Up Swyx Direct for Microsoft Teams
Swyx Direct for Microsoft Teams enables full telephony integration between Swyx and Microsoft Teams. MS Teams users can make and receive internal calls and calls to landlines, while Swyx remains the central telephony platform.
Swyx Direct users can
*Call MS Teams users or subscribers on the public switched telephone network (PSTN) from Swyx,
*call Swyx users or subscribers on the public switched telephone network (PSTN) from Microsoft Teams,
*Receive calls from the public switched telephone network (PSTN) via Swyx or Microsoft Teams.
System Requirements
Before setting up Swyx Direct, make sure the following requirements are met:
*Online Licensing Swyx Flex or SwyxON and ordered Swyx Direct for MS Teams licenses for the desired number of users,
see 5.3 Additional functions
*Configured federated services with Entra ID,
see 4.21 Federated services via identity providers
*Microsoft Teams presence synchronization,
see 4.21.1 Microsoft Teams presence synchronization
*from Microsoft: To activate Swyx Direct in Microsoft Teams as part of the automatic DNS provisioning process, one of the following permanently assigned licenses is required:
*User Account with Office 365 E1/E3/E5/A3/A5 or Microsoft 365 E3/E5/A3/A5
*User Account with Office 365 F1/F3 or Microsoft 365 F1/F3
*User Account with Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Standard/Premium and G3/G5 plans
*User Account with a Microsoft Teams Shared Devices license
*Resource Account with a Microsoft Teams Phone Resource Account license
Requirements for individual Swyx Direct users
To use Swyx Direct, the Swyx user must have
*an assigned public phone number
and
*a configured federated identity in Entra ID,
see 9.3 Creating Users,
*the appropriate calling permission for making calls, see 9.9 Defining rights.
*an assigned Swyx Direct for MS Teams license,
see 4.5 Assign user-specific functions
*from Microsoft: an Office 365 license that includes Direct Routing functionality for use with Microsoft Teams and Teams Phone.
Setup Process
Follow the steps below to complete the setup. Make sure you do not proceed to the next step until the previous one has been successfully completed.
1 In the PowerShell console: Register the Swyx Direct for MS Teams app in the Azure portal,

2 In Swyx Control Center: Request the Swyx Direct for MS Teams connection from Swyx Support,

3 In Swyx Control Center: Assign the Swyx Direct feature to the desired users,
